Modern Sicilian Network Successes | The Modern Sicilian Network has used the construct of "Culture, Community, Contribution" as the foundation of the organization since its inception and has been able to accomplish much in each category. Under "Culture", Modern Sicilian Network has sought to inform its members and others about Sicilian history and culture. "Community" refers to the events that Modern Sicilian has sponsored or assisted. Last, "Contribution" represents the philanthropic activities that Modern Sicilian has accomplished to-date and is the newly refocused "focus" of the organization. | | CULTURE | - Provided our "3,000 years in 30 minutes" multimedia presentation about the History of Sicily to universities, Italian-American groups, and cultural groups
- Participated in Italian festivals from Washington, DC to Boston, MA to promote the organization and its mission
- Published over 50 ezines, newsletters, updates and announcement via email about Italian, Italian-American, and Italy-related information with a specific focus on Sicily
- Conducted two "mission tours" of Sicily
| | COMMUNITY | - Held multiple events locally to encourage networking and cultural exchange
- Provided Italian, Italian-American, and Italy-relared organizations a means to promote their organizations, events, and projects
- Contributed to Sons of Italy foundation fundraiser for scholarships
- Enabled members to retrace roots and visit ancestral home towns in Sicily
- Facilitated family reunions between Americans and Sicilians in Sicily
| | CONTRIBUTION | - Contributed over $50,000 in monetary and in-kind donations in two years
- Contributed to the restoration of 18th century wooden benches in the chapel of the Mother Church of Calascibetta, Sicily
- Donated to the establishment of a cultural tourism center in Calascibetta, Sicily
